FAQ
How long should my hair be for waxing?
Ideally, ¼ inch (about a "rice grain" length). Stop shaving for at least 3-4 weeks pre-appointment. Longer is fine—I’ll trim it!
Can I wax if I’m on my period?
Yes, but you may be more sensitive, feel free to use an over the counter pain reliever prior to your appointment for some relief. Wear a tampon/cup and avoid scheduling during peak cramp days.
Should I exfoliate before my wax?
Gently exfoliate 24-48 hours prior to prevent ingrowns, but avoid harsh scrubs day-of.
Why can’t I use caffeine/alcohol before waxing?
Both increase sensitivity and pinpoint bleeding since they constrict your blood vessels. Avoid 24 hours pre-wax for a more comfortable experience.
Can I wax if I’m on Accutane or blood thinners?
No. These medications thin skin or increase bleeding risk. Wait 6-12 months post-Accutane.
Does waxing hurt?
Discomfort varies, but my soft wax technique minimizes pain. First-time clients say it’s far gentler than expected!
How long does a Brazilian wax take?
About 15-20 minutes (depending on hair density). Other body waxing services can take ~45 minutes.
Can I wax my face/eyebrows too?
Yes! I offer brow shaping, lip/chin, and full-face waxing. Add them to your appointment!
Do you use hard or soft wax?
Soft wax for most body areas (gentler on skin), and I only use hard wax upon request, but my clients find soft wax is more comfortable.
How long will my wax last?
Typically 3-6 weeks. Hair grows back finer/sparser over time with regular waxing.
How do I prevent ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate 2-3x/week (start 48 hrs post-wax) and use an ingrown serum (I carry my favorites in-studio!).
When can I workout/shower after waxing?
Wait 24 hours for working out in order to avoid irritation, sweating, or bacteria exposure. You can shower the same day, but use unscented/ gentle non irritating soaps. You can use grapeseed oil to moisturize.
Can I tan/go swimming post-wax?
Avoid sun, pools, and hot tubs for 24-48 hours—your skin is extra sensitive!
Why can’t I have sex after a Brazilian wax?
Friction + bacteria increase irritation/breakouts. Wait 24-48 hours.
Do you double-dip wax sticks?
Never! Strict single-use tools and hygiene protocols are followed.
Can I wax if I’m pregnant?
Yes, but hormone changes may increase sensitivity and breakouts. Come within the first 4 months of your pregnancy for optimal results.
What if I have a skin condition (eczema, psoriasis)?
Consult your dermatologist first. I avoid waxing over active flare-ups. I prep the skin with oil so I do not dry out the skin prior to waxing.
How often should I wax?
Every 4-6 weeks for optimal results and reduced hair growth over time.
